THE HOUSES IN THE WORLD

A house is a home, a building that functions as a habitat for people. The word house includes many kinds of dwellings from huts of nomadic tribes to more complex structures.

There are a lot of different types of houses all over the world. There are houses made of stone, wood, brick, ice, mud, concrete, houses built on trees, prefabricated houses and mobile homes called caravans.

Description of House


A house is a home, building, or structure that functions as a habitat for humans or other creatures. The term house includes many kinds of dwellings ranging from rudimentary huts of nomadic tribes to complex structures composed of many systems. English-speaking people generally call any building they routinely occupy "home".
The social unit that lives in a house is known as a household. Most commonly, a household is a family unit of some kind, though households may be other social groups, organizations, or individuals.



HOW HOUSES ARE BUILT

The houses are built according to the places and the needs of the people: 

The Mediterranean houses are usually white and with small windows because it is very hot. This way they are cooler inside.

The huts of nomadic tribes are very simple and rudimentary because people don't stay at the same place for a long time. 

Igloos are the temporary ice huts of the Eskimos. 

The tepees are tents made of animal skins of the native Americans.

The manufactured houses are prefabricated houses assembled on a permanent place.

The log houses are made in places with a lot of wood.

The barracas are made with reeds, mud and straw in Valencia.

The tree houses are built on the branches of a tree.

The desert houses are made with mud and don't have windows. They are cool in summer and warm in winter.    


MY IDEAL HOUSE                                             

My ideal house is a masia. It is the main house on a farm in Catalonia and it is made of stone.  In the farm there are stables, pigsties, hen houses, barns and it is surrounded by fields.

Farmhouse is a general term for the main house of a farm. It is a type of building or house which serves a residential purpose in a rural or agricultural setting. Historically common were farmhouses which were combined with space for animals called a housebarn. Other farm houses may be connected to one or more barns, built to form a courtyard, or each farm building was built separately.
